Lisa's Big Day: The Bridesmaid's POV PART 1

Lisa is finally married and on her way to her honeymoon on some obscure tropical island! Lucky girl! I was privileged enough to be part of her big day and super excited to share with you my non-pro shots of the day. I'm sure Lisa will post some from her photographer, the uber talented Sabine Scherer later on as well. Both ceremony and reception were held outdoors at the beautiful Hakone Gardens, a Japanese koi pond garden in Saratoga, CA.

Hung at the gate entrance of the garden.

The bridesmaids' bouquets and boutonnieres were all made by Lisa herself on the night before her wedding. Yes, she is crazy, but it takes a little bit of crazy to be a creative genius. =) I loved the little pom ball boutonnieres.

The programs sat in an apple crate she found for $1 at some random store. The covers were printed on a metallic stardream green paper through my inkjet and the inside was printed on kraft paper through my laser printer.

these were inspired by the lovely work of Erin Jang

Each table centerpiece sat one of these lovelies. Two yellow birdies nesting on a delicious red velvet or banana cake on top of wood stumps cut by the bride's very own hubby. I was in love with these.

At the reception, this was one of many tables set up. It was the sweet bar full of Paulette's macaroons, lemonade and a popcorn bar all in the colors of the wedding

The table numbers were held by one large, evenly round white balloon with a tag of the table number printed on. Each balloon was held down by a single green apple. She found a local balloon shop that sold these in all different sizes and colors.

Check back for more of the fun-filled day!

Lisa's Wedding Sneak Peek #2!- The Wishing Garden

A lot of people have wishing trees for their weddings and this idea came out of a rejected escort card idea. Rather than hanging tags on a tree, we kept in line with the theme of the outdoors, garden, park, etc. and decided to try a Wishing Garden.

I goccoed artwork onto some larger popsicle sticks so it would represent plant identifiers you use for gardens. However, instead of flowers or veggies, we will be planting blessings for the couple. A galvanized trough will be out for the guests to "plant" the blessing into.

Check out my blessing for them. =)

Lisa's Wedding - Sneak Peek #1!

Lisa's wedding is 4 days away (that's why she's been MIA) and last night we had a major crunch session. In 3 hours we produced quite a bit of signage and also got her programs designed and printed. Here's a sneak peek at what we've been working on.

We printed the inside of the programs on a really nice kraft paper that she found at Kate's Paperie. The green cover stock was a green stardream. She used my heavy duty guillotine to slice the programs up. It slices through phonebooks! I apologize for the poor quality in photos, my camera has been wigging out.

check back for more :)

Hermione Grows Up

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and it seems as if our little Hermione has really grown up . Emma Watson who has been in the movies since the beginning has now really emerged wonderfully in the world of fashion. I'm loving these photos of her.

Easy DIY Paper Lanterns

I made some paper lanterns for a bridal shower at work. They are very easy and incredibly fast to make. It is also is very inexpensive; I just grabbed whatever scrap paper I had lying around to make these.

Materials
Paper (any size and color)
Scissors
Scrap booking tape (or glue)

First, fold the paper in half and then cut strips till about 1" to the edge. You may cut the strips as thick or as thin you want depending on the look you would like to achieve. I cut mine a little bigger. (Don't mind my nail polish :))

After you cut the strips, open it back up and bring the two edges together and tape/glue them together and that's it! To make the middle spring out more, you can push it down from the top.

That's it! I hung them with some fishing wire so they look like they are floating.

Wedding Invitation by The Spark Machine

Lovely invitation design by The Spark Machine. It breaks out of the typical invitation convention, but most importantly still clearly presents information in an aesthetically pleasing manner. I really like the simplicity of the iconography as well.
