Over memorial day weekend, my husband and I finally got to visit the recently rennovated California Academy of Sciences with our free passes (Christmas gifts from a friend). It was so packed, but they had some pretty cool exhibits. I took pics of some of my faves.
The Rainforest exhibit looks like a huge terrarium and you can see the different levels of the Rainforest including the huge freshwater fish of red tail catfish and arrowanas. These are two of my husband's favorite fresh water fish. He was thrilled to see such huge arrowanas. Also flying around everywhere are butterflies! I was lucky enough to get so close to one and snap a photo.
This albino crocodile is so freaky looking, it doesn't even look real...yet I can't stop looking at it! He chills at the bottom with 3 of his turtle friends. His skin is so white, it almost looks bleach and his beady red eyes are really creepy.
The aquarium exhibit pales in comparison with the Monterey Bay Aquarium (which is one of our fave spots), but it had a few noteworthy tanks.
If you're in the area, definitely check it out. They are inside the Golden Gate Park across from the deYoung museum!
